“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”

What I’m really terrified of is leading an average, ordinary life with a regular job and an invariable routine, planned holidays, an average household, fixed responsibilities and not doing anything different to be remembered by.

And this is why I despise pop-culture and the world of modeling.
That doesn’t even seem possible

Makeup and Photoshop. We’re a society that has forgotten what women look like naturally. And worse, the way women look naturally is usually considered “ugly”.
We don’t allow women to see themselves represented naturally in any form of media and then wonder why so many women have such low self esteem and poor body image.
We tell women that the most important thing about them is the way they look. Then we literally deny the reality of the way women look. And when a woman looks in the mirror and sees herself so vastly different from the way women look in the media, it’s devastating to her self esteem and self image. We have set up a society and beauty culture that all but guarantees that women hate themselves and the way they look.
